Well what's strange is that the problem only occurs when doing a
compile, as soon as I hit ^C, it disappears. This sounds a bit too
consisten to be a hardware problem; but I'll check nonetheless. Also,
I'm not using the on-board audio, but instead a PCI card.

In that case I have a 500kbps upstream with my peer, so I don't run into
bandwith problems even with uLaw 64kbps. But MS-GSM sucks, in a way
similar to what happens above, with a compile going on.
