/Alexis, have you tried installing the packages from

http://snapshots.seconix.com/mandrake/  and see if there are any
complaints ?
Be sure you have not installed older versions ( rpm -qa | grep pwlib )
What is you machine? Can you tell the result of " uname -mpi " ?
