I just assumed you are using devfs, so I didn't think of the need to create the
nodes. Devices related to 1394 support will only be reported if they exist, so
you obviously don't have them in /dev (or they are not readable). Here are my
entries to help you out:
crw-rw---- 1 root cdrw 171, 0 Jan 1 1970 /dev/raw1394
crw-rw---- 1 root cdrw 171, 16 Jan 1 1970 /dev/video1394/0
/dev/video1394 is also a valid name for non-devfs configurations (and it is
the same as /dev/video1394/0 in that case)
