It doesn't look as though our solution was entirely right.  I could 
not discover why it was still loading, and I couldn't get into that 
boot-up at all.  My understanding of what's happening is still not 
too deep, so I'm guessing as best I can.  I saw that there was a 
modules.conf.pwcx also in the /etc directory, and wondered if that 
was also being run, as it did have the insmod line in.  I moved that 
file into my home directory and tried again.

This time it booted - though I still saw that message!  I manually ran 
the insmod and fired up GnomeMeeting.  It has been running for around 
10 minutes now and I can still see my movements as I type.

So - I have something working - but I'd really like to know why, and 
especially where that message is coming from.  I've asked on the 
Mandrake Expert mailing list, but so far no-one has come up with any 
ideas.
