Perhaps not the only way... Outside of gnomemeeting it may be possible.
There has been some echo cancellation code posted to the openh323 list
(the latest version is the last few days) which is reported to work
with simpleh323. In theory it *could* be ported to work with
gnomemeeting.
Additionally, I have heard that Windows XP has echo cancellation built
in - I don't know much about it because I don't run XP!
