Hi,
We have a gnomemeeting setup, the stock out of the box installation
that came with SuSE Linux (8 I believe, a uname -a returns
Linux (nodename) 2.4.19-4GB #1 Fri Nov 8 14:37:03 PST 2002 i686 unknown
It was working perfectly for us for some time, but lately someone
messed with the sound settings, and now it has a horrible 2-second echo
for all remotely connected participants unless we click the audio mute
button on the GM control panel (so that the outgoing audio rate is set
to zero). Note that we do not hear this echo locally.
We have a hardware echo-cancelling mike hooked between the microphone
inputs and speakers, as we always have, and have tried various settings
of the internal GM echo cancellation with no luck at suppressing the
echo for remote users. That echo goes away as I said if we suppress
our own audio transmission.
The odd thing is that it worked fine before, and we have not upgraded
or altered the GM setup or operating system specifically to avoid
messing up the GM setup, as we use this system essentially for
videoconferencing only. I am wondering what options we should have
turned on or off, muted, etc. under the all-purpose "Volume
Control"panel SuSE provides that can be reached by right-clicking on
the menu-bar volume symbol, or other checks we can make from the
command line for example to see what can be done to suppress this echo.
Help from this list would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Alan
