I did this

glider:# cp /var/adm/fillup-templates/sysconfig.gconf2 /etc/sysconfig/gconf2
glider:# /sbin/SuSEconfig --module gconf2
Starting SuSEconfig, the SuSE Configuration Tool...
Running module gconf2 only
Reading /etc/sysconfig and updating the system...
Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.gconf2...
Finished.
glider:# ps aux|grep gconfd-2
gmkelly  12203  0.0  0.3  7132 4008 ?        S    22:50   0:00 /opt/gnome/lib/
GConf/2/gconfd-2 16
root     12267  0.0  0.0  1828  620 pts/3    R    22:51   0:00 grep gconfd-2
glider:# kill -9 12203

Restarted GM but unfortunately get the same Error popup message.
