If you are logged in as jmpoure, both groups jmpoure and groups should return the same result. groups returns teh groups for the current user, if video is not part of that list for the current user, then gnomemeeting won't be able to use it with that particular user. I guess that if you do su - jmpoure, it will work. It means in that case that you are not logged in as jmpoure.
