Recommending a Distribution is always a personal preference. We do offer
packs for all main distros (Debian, RedHat/Fedora, SuSE, Mandrake,
Slackware) on www.gnomemeeting.org that should work fine. Basically it's
a matter of which way of administration is your favourite. The
distribution that does support your way of thinking should be the one
you install. (Off the record, almost all GnomeMeeting developers use
Debian, so that's working quite proven nicely - in Debian SID main you
have 1.0.2 shipping by default, Sarge right now still has 0.98.5)
For a very quick test you might yet just want to take a KNOPPIX or
derived Linux-on-CD that does have a current (1.0.2) version of
GnomeMeeting installed. Make sure the audio drivers are chosen from the
ALSA modules, not the OSS drivers.
very nice. I'll try the Debian distribution. Many Thanks for all.
