Thanks there is problem with gcc running and using the LTSP libraries.
I'll try asking on theLTSP site but perhaps I'll have to build a linux
box with the LTSP compile environment using their 2.4 kernel. Pity I
just threw out an old computer that would have done

Bad. Won't work if they don't use the same lib versions.
After adjusting the LS_LIBRARY_PATH,the error then changed to
./gnomeeting: /libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.3.4' not found ( required
by ./gnomemeeting)
./gnomeeting: /libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.3.4' not found ( required
by /mnt/server/usr/lib/libpt.so.1.6.5)
./gnomeeting: /libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.3.3' not found ( required
by /mnt/server/usr/lib/libstc++.so.6)
./gnomeeting: /libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.3.4' not found ( required
by /mnt/server/usr/lib/libkrb5.so.3)
This is the example: you have a libc version on the box you compiled
on, and another on the box you want to run on.
My guess is that the thinstation won't be able to compile gnomemeeting
itself ; I would say: create a chroot build environment on your
powerful box, with the same versions as what is on your thinstation.
