I think doing apt-get install libpt-plugins-v4l is enough to make things
work.

Both of you should report a bug to Knoppix and Ubuntu for the following
reasons :
- our V4L2 plugin is experimental and not stable
- very few linux drivers support V4L2, most of them are still supporting
only V4L1

So it makes GnomeMeeting unusable for most people.
