Hello !
First, i'd like to thank D.Sandras for the work he has done. GM is a
wonderful tool. I met him at the LSM'04, and found his presentation of
GM impressive.
I got a problem with my webcam, a Labtec Webcam Pro, which is supported
by the spca50x driver [http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html].(not the old
labtec webcam, supported by qc-cam).
Output of dmesg when i modprobe the driver :
/tmp/spca5xx-20050206/drivers/usb/spca50x.c: USB SPCA5XX camera found.
Type Labtec Webcam Pro Zc0302 + Hdcs2020
/tmp/spca5xx-20050206/drivers/usb/spca50x.c: [spca50x_probe:7258] Camera
type JPEG
usbcore: registered new driver spca50x
/tmp/spca5xx-20050206/drivers/usb/spca50x.c: spca5xx driver 56.02.06

It works very well with vlc/mplayer/gqcam, it is viewed as a v4l/v4l2
device, attached with /dev/video0 (my user is in the video group)

When i try with xawtv, as said in the GM faq, i got this :
landry renton[installs]$xawtv -c /dev/video0
This is xawtv-3.94, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.8)
/dev/video0 [v4l]: no overlay support
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway

GM loads, but it gives the well-known error for the users of this list :
"Erreur lors de l'ouverture du peripherique video /dev/video0"
This, at the display of the webcam image, or during the auto-detect
process in the configuration assistant.
For information, GM detects correctly my bttv card ( I tried all these
tests with AND without the bttv module insmod'ed )
So, i'm asking if someone has managed to make this webcam work with GM,
using this driver. I've searched a lot on this ML/GM faq, and on the web..
I'v also tried this driver [http://zc0302.sourceforge.net/zc0302.php],
an alternative to spca50x, but my precise model of webcam isn't
supported by this driver.
I don't know if the problem comes from the driver, from GM, or from v4l...
Should i ask the spca50x driver's maintainer instead of this list ? If
so, i apologize for this long message, and the noise ... :'(
Thanks.
