I mean, what If I want to talk to my mom and dad, both using ekiga in one
conference, with skype you could just invite the 3 to an ongoing
confersation and you'd know for sure nobody else would sneak in and
listen. I haven't found such a feature in ekiga yet, at all. Or the 500
room, is it a room for all ekiga.net members? If so, would I have to get
my own proxy/conference server to make sure nobody can 'just get in'? Or
what about password protected room even? How would all that btw work with
video?
First of all, 500 ekiga net is an answering machine which will mirror
your audio and video to you after a voice will have explained what it does.
Then ekiga has no builtin special support for conferences : you have to
join some server, which will receive data from participants, and send
back the mix. Notice that this is probably what skype does behind the scene.
The problem with this approach is that it requires a server with a very
good bandwith ; something that the ekiga project can't afford,
especially for all its users.
If you have a big bandwith, you could be the server for your parents and
yourself...
