You can use an USB phone. If you want to plug a real phone,I saw a 
product from an Israeli companie (don't remember the name) which bridged 
phone handset and soundcard.

Ekiga is a softphone which means working using soundcards. To use phone 
handset, you should better look to ATA boxes.
