It does retry, but somehow it remembers the status of the last failed
registration of an account.

I ran into this problem yesterday, I had 3 accounts registered, one
re-registration failed during the day with "forbidden". I opened the
account window and re-registered manually (which worked). After another
3600 seconds it showed the same error ("forbidden") again, I
re-registered manually again. I had to repeat this until I restarted
Ekiga. It is very unlikely that the automatic registration fails with
the same error all the time, whereas manual registration works.

A related question: if automatic re-registration fails, when does it
retry next time? Is it after the configured "Registration timeout" in
the accounts window?
What about configurable (perhaps via gconf) retry-on-error values, to
make Ekiga e.g. try the registration up to 10 times with 5 seconds in
between if there is an error. If it still fails then, the user should be
presented with an error window or at least a changed tray icon. It
happened a couple of times that the registration failed and I didn't
even know that people cannot call me anymore.

Best regards,
Hannes
