Thanks for your report, but please don't call them "ieee1394 webcams", 
as it is very misleading :
- they can be ieee1394/AVC webcams ;
- or they can be ieee1394/DC webcams.

Since you mentioned coriander, I guess you are talking about DC cams. 
Unfortunately, we have had noone really working on the DC plugin since 
years as far as I know : this code has only been fixed to compile, but 
couldn't be tested... We only kept the plugin around because we had 
success reports. If we only get failure reports, we'll certainly have to 
remove it.

If someone has both a DC cam and programming competences, it would be a 
welcome contribution to fix things.
