Therein lies the problem.
0.22 is not source compatible with preceding versions.
0.56 requires gnome-print 0.20

I would recommend staying with gnome-print 0.20 until gnumeric 0.57
comes out and supports the newer release.  Gnumeric is used as the
test case for gnome-print.  Until we release a version that depends
on a new gnome-print you'd best wait.
