The wide text problem can be seen in any Excel file with suitably wide
text strings, so that they should be written over adjacent (empty) cells
This doesn't happen when the sheet is loaded, and IMHO it should. Can
you confirm that this is reproducible for you?
The values problem isn't so much that the _wrong_ value is shown, but
that NO value is shown for some formulae until F9 is pressed (or
Gnumeric recalculates the value for some other reason). Since this is
not a known fixed problem I will create a Bugzilla entry and attach
an example sheet.
I have also obtained samples of the MS Works spreadsheet format, which
appears to be similar to Excel (BIFF, and then later OLE wrapped BIFF)
but different enough that without documentation it may be too much
effort to reverse engineer, we shall see.
