Eek! 0.48 is ancient. You would want to upgrade to something more
recent even if I had not just added support for frozen panes in the
latest release :-) 0.68 supports frozen panes for most things.
There are still a few unimplemented corners (sheet objects only
appear in 1 pane). I've just added XL export capabilities but 0.68
has XL import and xml import/export.
Seriously folks, Gnumeric is developing rapidly you do not want to
be using a release that is more than 6 months old. Indeed the last
several versions have a builtin check that displays a _warning_ if
your version is older than that.
