Thanks to Andreas and Tino -- auto correct was the problem.
I wonder if having autocorrect on by default is such a good idea, when
spreadsheets will often (usually?) contain obscure abbreviations for
things like chemicals or (in this case) aerodynamic coefficients. At
least, if it is on by default, there should be an easy way for the
user to override the correction (no, this *IS* what I really mean).
