Hi,

Shouldn't these:
<gmr:Workbook xmlns:gmr="http://www.gnumeric.org/v8.dtd";
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.gnumeric.org/v8.xsd";>

point to something that exists?

The O'Reilly book "XML in a Nutshell" says on page 64:

"Namespace URIs do not necessarily point to an actual document or page."

...although a couple of sentences later:

"However, if you define your own namespace using an http URI, placing
documentation for the specification at the namespace URI would not be a bad
idea."

...then finally:

"You are by no means required to do this, though."

Hope this helps,
