I agree this would be preferable but I think different than what excel
has (tab completion did not exist in DOS). For now the work around is to
type something wrong, delete, hit enter. So you could type
1) E
2) _
3) <delete>
4) <return>
and have just E without Exact being entered. Once you have diverged from
the possible auto-complete realm, auto-complete shuts off (which in my
opinion is another issue with giving priority to auto-complete over the
user).
or maybe something like "it suggests the word but won't use the
suggestion if you press return and will use the suggestion if you press
the right arrow or tab". or something along those lines...
also -- are there any plans of modifying import so that you can import a
plain old text file of numbers like:
1.0
2.0
3.0
into the current sheet rather than creating a new instance of gnumeric
when you do this? i think it would be a worthwhile thing. i'd think it
would be less complicated than starting a whole new instance of
gnumeric.
This is a common request and will happen eventually. Low priority.
