Some nice ideas, but the core commands will not work.

There is quite a bit of deep magic in the sheet life cycle.  The
simple life cycle you posit in your implementation would be nice,
but is definitely not reality.  Detaching will leave dangling
references to the sheet, and re-attaching will not restore all of
the changed things.

Odd, I would have expected exactly the opposite.  We've done a fair
amount of header cleanup since 1.0.x.  Its probably just sucking in
more headers due to bononbo being pushed under libgnome.
