256-column limit

I've googled on the 256-col limit in gnumeric, and saw a 2002 posting
from Jody, saying the only changes need to expand this were the
#defines for

SHEET_MAX_COLS

(in gnumeric.h) and

TILE_TOP_LEVEL
TILE_SIZE_COL

(in sheet-style.c).

I'd just like to check: is that still applicable as of 1.2.8?

One other point in this area.  I've recently been working with a large
CSV file, and at first I didn't notice that it had been truncated by
gnumeric, since this was done silently.  When I tried opening the same
CSV file in Excel I got a warning saying it had not been completely
loaded.  Such a warning seems quite important!
