Unstable's GNOME is at 2.4. For gnumeric HEAD/1.3 you need some GNOME 2.6
packages; they are available in the `experimental' archive; see
http://wiki.debian.net/index.cgi?GnomeTwoDotSix
You might also want to pine apt (this prevents apt from upgrading your
packages with something from experimental, unless you tell it too).
Since some of the packages on experimental depend on unstable, this is a
smart move unless you're willing to upgrade totally to experimental.
You pine apt by creating a file called /etc/apt/preferences.
Mine has the following lines
Package: *
Pin: release a=unstable
Pin-Priority: 50
Package: *
Pin: release a=experimental
Pin-Priority: 75
(It basically means that apt will install stuff from testing, which is
what I use, then unstable, then experimental - you can also create a
better fine tuning if you wish).
