With an open source product the features that get implemented are very much driven by the interests of the developers.

The good news for you is that since the source is open, anyone can be a developer. If a feature is important enough to you and your business you can always hire someone to implement that feature.

If it isn't that important then I'm afraid you have to take your chance that some other developer will fix it for you.

I like Gnumeric various reasons, and would like it to
be more useable. Posting complaints on the mailing
list doesn't seem to get much attention, so maybe I
need to look into Bugzilla myself.
Bugzilla is a much better bet for making sure the issue does not get lost.
