locales determining your sorting order. Since you are using POSIX I am not surprised that you do not get your preferred sorting order. You should set the locale correctly for your expected behaviour. I do not find any "problems" with locales. If you encounter issues with them then those issues are what you need to address. Andreas -- Andreas J.
