Hi,
This idea is actually from gtk-demo, I can see some advantages for it:
- Good for developers working on libgoffice to test code
- Good for developers working on libgoffice-depend existing
projects(gnumeric, gnucash, abiword, etc.) and future projects to learn
how to write code and verify problems.
I'd prefer to keep pie-demo.c as a very simple sample, and yours as
something more involved.
You commented out the XLContourPlot and XLSurfacePlot types, just drop
them, they are just there for compatibility with the weird excel
surfaces and are not intended to be used in other cases.
One day, I should write a tutorial...
I filed a bug to track this change,
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=547408
Actual link for the bug is:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=547408
and the patch:

Best regards,
Jean
