gnumeric color theme

hello,
I have just installed gnumeric and now I am trying to change the 
default color theme. I am using a dark Gnome theme - my desktop and all 
my applications are light-text-on-dark-background. However, gnumeric 
seems to ignore the default gnome theme colors and displays dark-text-
on-light-background. 

Moreover, in the main menu there does not seem to be any functionality 
for customizing the background color

Could somebody please advise how to solve this? I presume I am not the 
only person who is using dark theme desktop.
