There is currently no easier way except if you write a plugin with a
command to do the job the way you wish.
Move and resize with cells is not, imho, the best setting for many
images (such as logos and photos). It is not possible to have a default
behavior making everyone happy.

We might add some controls into the image insert dialog to allow for
various options. Please file an enhancement request.

How can the program know where to place each image? You should
effectively file a request explaining how you would like things to
work. As usual, a patch would be welcome.
