Good evening It appears that Gnumeric is currently the only application which uses this mechanism on my own machine. However, to be sure, I will need to compare the mime-types to identify spreadsheets of different type. And the recent files from other spreadsheet programs must be converted to XML. Maybe writing a full-blown helper-utility to write unified lists of “recent files” is exaggerated and its uses limited. Thank you anyway for the information. Gnumeric uses the gtk+ provided recent-files api. For me that ends up in ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel but note that the file contains non-gnumeric stuff too. M. In an attempt to facilitate the work on some files with different applications, I would like to maintain one single list of “recent files”. What I am missing, is the location of the list that is normally read and updated by Gnumeric. I hope to write a routine which will keep these lists up to date for all concerned applications.
