Gnome2.0

I am running Mandrake 9.0 and when I run config it gives me errors like
cannot find gnome2.0 gnomeui2.0 libraries.. somehting like that.   Check
your PKG-CONFIG-PATH?  Anyone else encounter this problem?

Although when I try to install gnome2.0* it tells me it's already installed.
