thank you for your answer.
My window manager is the one delivered with Irix 6.* (SGI) .
I have already seen applications having such behaviour (ie you iconify a
window and all other windows iconify), but I think it was Motif
applications.
If you know an example of applications using GTK and having such a
behaviour, I might look in the source files, in order to see how to do it
...

Does your window manager support this behavior? (it may be a config
options)
