Don't use GtkText, GtkExText is in most cases a better solution
(http://www.bahnhof.se/~mikeh/linux/gtkextext.html). Or you play around
with the development version of GTK2 (this is unstable by now, but this
should contain a better GtkText widget, this is planned to become stable
in the next 2(?)months).
