gtk-2.0 (1.3.6) crashes...

Hi gtk-ers!

I would really, really, like to test some of my projects with gtk-1.3.6. 
I downloaded the stuff (gtk+-all-1.3.6.tar.gz) from gtk.org, compiled 
and installed without any problems; I also have been able to compile 
some small test programs, but every program I compile and link with 
gtk-1.3.6 crashes with some weird error messages which make me feel 
dumb.  Attached file contains the output of one test program (since for 
all programs I get the same results I feel it's useless to attach the 
program source too).

If anyone can give me an explanation (and maybe a workaround) it will be 
greatly appreciated.
