pango fonts and font selection

Hi,

with gtk-1.* the fontselection widget returned a string like 
"-adobe-courier-medium-r-normal-*-*-120-*-*-m-*-iso8859-1"
but with pango in gtk2, a font description should look like
"courier 12"

does the font selection widget return those new strings? if not, how can I
load those old strings? (I want to set the font fro the new text widget).
