Very simple question

I've programmed for over 30 years, most of it in the Windows environment. I'm 
learning GTK++ and finding it a bit of a daunting task as it is a very 
comprehensive set of widgets. Most of the widgets are easy to identify, but 
one is currently eluding me.

Is there a widget that can display a .jpg / .png / etc - preferably with some 
scaling ability?

Sorry for the very basic question. I promise to move off basics ASAP.
