GNOME question

I'm not sure that this list is the right place to ask, but I didn't
subscribed to any GNOME app development list (what's its name?)
I'm writing a file downloading program for GNOME, and I store its global
preferences, window info, etc in GConf. But I also need to store
download queues info. What the right place for that? Maybe .gnome2 or .
gnome2_private or what?
