I had the same problem, finally solved with eggtrayicon.c and the
proper.h.... I'm not sure where I found it. But try in:

http://svn.ndesk.org/ndesk/nbind/ngtkext/eggtray/glue/eggtrayicon.c
http://svn.ndesk.org/ndesk/nbind/ngtkext/eggtray/glue/eggtrayicon.h

It worked fine for me :)
