clist selection from gtk_clist_get_selection_info

I'm trying to get the row and column stuff from a clist..
 gtk_clist_get_selection_info (clist, event->x, event->y + clist->voffset, &row, &column);

It works as long as i'm in a viewable part of the clist at the top, but if i
scroll down at all, it doesn't get the right row at all.  any ideas? :)
