Yes, I ran into this problem too.. basically you are required to provide a
label instead of NULL..

just do:

  label = gtk_label_new (_ ("Mailboxes"));
  gtk_notebook_append_page (GTK_NOTEBOOK (notebook), my_page, label);


You used to be able to pass NULL for label...
