It is written in so-called ``portable bourne shell'', though I have no
problem with translating from a local bourne shell to portable bourne shell.
As for ``well documented'', the configuration generally requires making sure
that a large number of variables are set appropriately based on configure
detected platform details (little more than a host triplet, and path
to the compiler, linker, ranlib, nm, dlltool etc). The list of variables is
documented in the libtool manual, and the relevant parts of the code are
marked with a `#PORTME' comment in libtool.m4 and ltmain.in.
You also have a head start, because the code for the old MSVC port is still
in place, so it should only be a matter of tweaking and perhaps adding
settings for some of the newer PORTME vars.
