default invisible char

Hi,

Random suggestion: why don't we use bullets instead of asterisks as
the default password entry char? (The mac does this.)  Kind of a
snazzy touch, less ascii-art, more unicode-enabled.

I don't know how often we will be missing this glyph though.
Certainly it isn't in the fixed font.
