gdk-pixbuf mmx accelerated functions never called?

composite_line_22_4a4_mmx and composite_line_color_22_4a4_mmx are called when the source pixbuf has 4 channels and alpha and the dest pixbuf had 4 channels and no alpha.
In my experience a pixbuf either has 4 channels + alpha, or 3 channels + no alpha.
Am I missing something?
