I would suggest that you proceed by:
- developing a detailed UI spec for how it should behave, citing
behavior on Windows, Qt, Swing, if appropriate
- propose an API for it, again citing how those toolkits work
- attach this info to bug #50276, and also post a proposal to
gtk-devel-list for comment
- as comments are given roll them back in to the proposal
(i.e. maintain the draft proposal)
That's the bulk of the work. Actually doing the coding would be
appreciated, but probably the coding is pretty trivial, the real
reason this feature is currently on the "future" milestone is the
design/spec phase.
