You might want to summarize here what the Quartz project is, without assuming
that people already know.
And also give a slightly better explanation at the SourceForge head
page about it :)
To cite that "Native port of GTK+ to Mac OS X using Quartz"
A bit longer: Quartz is the graphic's backend of MacOS X. It contains
the window manage and the CoreGraphics graphic API. We can currently
already use GTK+ on OS X using XFre86, however, the goal is to get
GTK apps running without X-Window, since the avarage MacOS X has no
X-Window installed.
To this goal, we will have to write a new backend for GDK, besides
some other things. This will actually involve much more of the OS X
API than just Quartz, e.g. for input handling (keyboard, mouse etc.),
something which is my profession more than the graphics stuff :)
I think you guys will get a lot of questions from us in the near
future if we fail to understand something in the internal workings of
GDK/GTK :)
