Compiling Gtk 1.3.7 and XFree 3.3.6

Hi,

I have the following problem:

I have downloaded the gtk+-all-1.3.7 tarball.

I cann run the configure with any problems.
But when I try to compile the source, I get an error message during
the compilation of `pango` :

> ../../../pango/pango/pangoxft.h:34: X11/Xft/Xft.h: No such file or directory

I am running a debian 2.1 system with XFree 3.3.6.
Can I configure pango so that is does not required Xft?

Is Xft part of XFree 4 or can I install Xft on my Xfree 3.3.6 based
system?
