I think what we need here is a rather minimal GObject addition: a boxed
type for gchar **. I've filed
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=110528
about it and attached an implementation.
Getting rid of GValueArray has the nice side effect of shrinking
gtkaboutdialog.c by almost 100 lines...
