I was anticipating that we would simply bin the BonoboUIToolbar (except
for backwards compat.) and we'd use the new GtkToolbar code - Soeren I
believe was going to have a look to ensure that the code provides a
super-set of what we need; it sounds like it is likely to be though. [
although BonoboUIToolbar has some rather funky pack start/end type stuff
(cf. the throbber) ].

As for built in merge APIs - I havn't looked at that either; I got the
impression that Soren's work laid the ground for this by implementing a
sensible containment based toolbar with child-widgets to replace the
previous baroque monolith. I imagine any merging needs to be laid on top
of that.
