Here is the GTK+ patch I promised last week. I'm not a GTK+ hacker, but the 
modification is relatively simple so it shouldn't be too terrible. I would 
appreciate it if somebody who understands GTK+ a bit better could tell me if 
the patch should handle compression of sync requests properly.
